 WARKWORTH GARDEN CLUB


 AIM: To provide members with opportunities to share gardening knowledge and

 enjoyment through a varied programme of monthly activities.


 MEMBERSHIP: Any person may become a member on payment of the annual

 Subscription of $15.00 or $25 couple for the year ending 30 June 2021


 MEETINGS: Third Tuesday of each month – unless otherwise stated

 Car pooling: Cost per person for drivers is as stated in the Programme. 


 Bus Trips: Please book through Cheryl before paying Gloria Wilmot (either online or at her letterbox) and they will liaise to ensure everyone has a seat. The Club policy is not to give refunds unless there is a good reason for non attendance.

December 8th 2020 - Christmas Lunch at Liz Price's, 96 Thompson Rd, Warkworth. Liz has kindly offered to host our Christmas Celebration again at her charming home, with the Ladies Lions Club catering. We will meet at 11.30am for drinks and a walk around their extensive gardens, followed by lunch. Please bring an item for the Food Bank. There will be a raffle. Cost $25.00 per person. Online bank payment by 1st December will confirm your booking. (See payment details above.)  


2021 PROGRAMME: JANUARY TO AUGUST


January 19th   WARKWORTH GARDENS.
Today we will visit 3 prize worthy local gardens.
Please gather at Gloria & Les Wilmot’s, 23 Pulham Road at 9.30am to visit their extensive garden. Gloria will kindly supply the morning tea. Raffle.

This will be followed by our two other garden visits at 10.30am & 11.30am.
Please bring your hats & sunblock. If you car-pool please pay your drivers.


February 16th     MINCHER GARDENS – Coatesville $40.

A large 5 star rural "Garden of International Significance" with formal and informal planting, native walkways and waterways with large Georgian house as the centrepiece.

Meet at Showgrounds at 8.45am – bus leaving at 9am.

Then calling into Black Cottage Café for Morning Tea at 10.15 before moving on to the gardens at 11am. BYO Lunch and refreshments as there are lots of lovely places to sit in the garden. The bus leaves at 1pm to take us back to the Showgrounds

 
March 16th ASHMORE CRES AREA RAMBLE.
Ramble around some gardens in the Ashmore Cres area. Bring your morning tea and maybe a chair if you want to. More details nearer the time. Raffle.
Meet at Showgrounds at 9.30 am to carpool.


April 20th AYRLIES GARDEN -Whitford $40.
Today we will visit Ayrlies garden to see a wide range of exotic plants and trees. Wear comfortable shoes. You will need to bring morning tea and lunch and hot water will be available to you. Plants will be available to purchase.
We will be travelling by bus. Cost $40 for bus and entry to the garden.
Meet at the Showgrounds at 8.30am for a 9am departure.


May 18th: OREWA AREA GARDENS. 
Meet at the Showgrounds at 8.45 in order to carpool and be ready to leave by 9am. 

Good walking shoes are needed. The first part of the big garden is steep and slippery in parts, walking is on mulch, but it is easily seen from the concrete footpath, recommended for those not so able. The rest is flatter and easier walking. BYO morning tea, or buy where decided (see further details in email sent to all members by Bev Billington, Club Secretary) Please remember to give your driver a contribution. Suggested amount for this trip is $5 pp.

June 15th - Morning Tea and Shirley Shirley will introduce us to Bonsai. 

Meet at Totara Park at 10am for "An Introduction to Bonsai" followed by morning tea.  

There will be a raffle. Subscriptions due on 30 June can be paid. $15.00 or $25.00 couple


July 27th - A film showing at Matakana Cinemas. 

Starts at 10am with a cost of $11.50. Film title to be announced soon. Note: This is a week later due to school holidays. 


August 17th - The  AGM  followed by “Soup and Savouries,” at Point Wells Hall.
